Evaluation of the Collapsibility of El Hodna Sabkha Soil—Algeria
Sabkha soils are recent saline sediments characterized by low strength and high compressibility. They become impassable when dampened, which indicate that this type of soil is susceptible to collapse upon flooding. The present study deals with the collapsibility of sabkha soils using conventional and modified oedometers. The modified oedometer which allow water to percolate through the consolidating sample demonstrated its ability to detect the collapse potential of saline soils.The results showed that the studied sabkha soil is moderately collapsible.
