Chow's General Hydrologic Model
The general hydrologic model by Chow and Kulandaiswamy offers a useful method for defining the response characteristics of a watershed with a number of adjustable parameters. In an effort to use this model, it was discovered that the instantaneous unit hydrographs given by the model suffered certain inconsistencies that eventually caused unrealistic pulsations in the rising limb of the runoff hydrograph. This technical note examines the properties of the instantaneous unit hydrographs due to this model and suggests a simple procedure to eliminate the spurious effects.
