Application and Performance of Polyethylene Modifying Additive in Asphalt Mixture
Polyethylene modifying additive is a low-carbon eco-friendly materials, which uses waste plastics as main material. It can reduce the white pollution and help protecting the environment. Not only does it make use of the waste, but also can greatly improve the asphalt mixture performance. The adding method of polyethylene modifying additive is different from ordinary asphalt modifier. Mix the polyethylene modifying additive and mineral aggregate for a few minutes, then add the asphalt mixing together. This approach simplifies the construction process and greatly reduces the construction cost. This paper prove that the improvement effect of asphalt mixture which is mixed with polyethylene modifying additive on high temperature stability, low temperature cracking resistance and water resistance is obviously, analyze the mechanism that additive affect asphalt mixture performance and evaluate polyethylene modifying additive in the technical, economic and environmental aspects. In addition, this paper proposes using the Warm Mix Asphalt technology to reduce carbon emissions, for the asphalt mixture mixed with Polyethylene modifying additive needs to raise the mixing and compacting temperature.
