Although America’s space shuttle fleet is now earthbound in retirement, a dynamic new exhibit at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex depicts the orbiter Atlantis as if it were still circling the planet, its payload bay doors open to the stars and its robotic arm extended. And just as on the shuttle’s many actual space missions, Atlantis is still being supported by considerable efforts in engineering and innovation.
