In Situ Dynamic Characteristics of Reinforced Concrete Shear Wall Buildings
This work summarizes the salient features of a study on the dynamic characteristics of 27 mid-rise and high-rise reinforced concrete shear wall buildings in Montreal. Ambient vibration measurements were performed and dynamic properties extracted using frequency domain decomposition of the measured records. The extracted dynamic properties were then used to evaluate different models proposed in building codes and in the literature to predict the natural periods in various response ranges. Results obtained for modal damping are also discussed.
