Sediment Transportation Mechanics: J. Transportation of Sediment in Pipes
The main objectives of this paper are: (1) to present a survey of existing knowledge on the transportation of sediment in pipes; (2) to examine the similarities and differences of previous findings; and (3) to suggest design criteria based on the present status of knowledge. This presentation is limited to transportation of cohesionless sediment (sand, coal, and so forth) as Newtonian Solid-Liquid mixtures. Chemical reaction and coagulation of material are excluded.
