Design of the U.S. Grant Bridge Replacement (Concrete Alternative)
The design and construction method for the proposed concrete alternate for the US Grant replacement bridge is described. The proposed design is a precast segmental box girder structure with a single plane of stay cables along the centerline of the structure. The proposed bridge is a unique unsymmetrical bridge with spans of 350'/875/452', the unequal side span being a result of geometric constraints. The design focuses on providing a robust and serviceable bridge, while maintaining an optimized design that is cost competitive with a steel alternate cable stayed bridge prepared for this site.
