The South Pass Jetties: Descriptive and Incidental Notes and Memoranda
It is nearly three years since the construction of the jetties was commenced. Two years ago, at the annual convention, we gave you in a very fragmentary manner, an account of the work, mid of some of the results obtained at that time. We propose now to deal somewhat more generally with the subject, and to supplement the descriptive statements with some memoranda incident to the work. It will be remembered, in the discussion of the subject, that the jetties are still incomplete; that the results aimed at are not yet fully realized, and that many of the phenomena are the results of progressive works, and are incidents simply of the process of channel making, at which the river has been set at work.
