A Methodology for Identifying Urban Traffic Corridors Using Big Data of Cell Phone Trajectory
Urban traffic corridors are the main arteries of urban traffic operation. Accurate identification of urban traffic corridors is a vital problem that should be addressed in urban public traffic planning. In this paper, a new method for identifying traffic corridors, method of trajectory intersection clustering (MTIC), is proposed. Users’ travel trajectories were extracted from cell phone big data using a three-stage trajectory pretreatment method. Then, urban traffic corridors were identified by clustering the intersection points of extracted trajectories and inspection lines. To deal with the huge amount of data, the computing platform Apache Spark was used to implement the method. A case study based on the cell phone data collected in Nanjing in October, 2016, shows the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method in identifying urban traffic corridors.
