Large Diameter Pipe Design under Urban Constraints
A routing study performed by Black & Veatch recommended a water transmission pipeline to be constructed under the American River. Crossing the American River entails microtunneling a 54-inch pipeline approximately 1,450 feet at a depth of approximately 60 feet below ground. In addition, from the microtunnel receiving shaft, the pipeline will follow a residentially- and commercially- developed street in which numerous existing utilities are present.
