Computer Analysis of Water Distribution Systems: Part I–Formulation of Equations
Linear graph theory has been used to formulate a system of equations that describes the steady state flow of a water distribution system. An efficient algorithm to formulate the system of node equations has been devised and successfully implemented on a digital computer. This computer program has been used to generate equations for various water distribution systems. The system of equations was generated in such a form that minimal time is required for their evaluation in an iteration solution process. The form of the system of equations is such that different headloss-flow rate relationships of a pipe, in addition to the Hazen-Williams formula, can be used in the computer program.
