Response Analysis of a Long-span Arch Bridge under the Seismic Traveling Excitation
Taking a long-span arch bridge as the example, the characteristics of traveling responses of the arch bridge under the horizontal and vertical seismic excitations and the effect of the traveling velocity on the responses are discussed based on numerical analysis results. According to the structure symmetry, a simplification computational method is proposed for traveling seismic response analysis of the bridge in time domain by using the seismic response of two half arch bridges under the unison excitation. The time history analysis results indicated that the simplification model can achieve a good precision. The comparison of the numerical results describes the phenomena that the seismic response under traveling wave excitation does not linearly change with the seismic wave velocity. Through some further analysis, this article proposes a new concept of the resonant under traveling wave excitation, and the mechanism of the resonant effect in traveling wave is being expatiated.
