Gold Medal Legacy
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place from July 27 to August 12, will be the “greenest” Olympics ever held. During this global event, more than 9 million visitors and 18,900 athletes will be welcomed at the new Olympic Park—the very center of the games. Once a neglected brownfield in northeast London, the site along the banks of the river Lea has been transformed into one of Europe’s largest urban parks and will serve as the games’ legacy for future generations.
