Accelerated ageing tests in lab indicated that tensile properties of GFRP bar reduced with exposure to simulated alkaline solution at elevated temperatures, which resulted in concerns of using GFRP bar in concrete having high pH value pore water. Developing a convincible Environmental Reduction Factor (ERF) to account for GFRP long-term durability is of significant importance. In this paper, a newly developed GFRP long-term performance prediction approach that incorporates effects of time, temperature, and moisture, is adopted to develop ERFs for GFRP bar as to be applied in the United States. Average monthly temperature and relative humidity across the US are used to simulate real application environments. ERFs obtained from this research are compared to that in ACI 440.1R-06 to justify the current code-defined ERFs, and corresponding modifications to current guideline are suggested.
