NSF Workshop on Geotechnical Fundamentals: How Researchers Can Contribute to Today’s Real-World Challenges
A 2 ½ day National Science Foundation (NSF)-sponsored Workshop (Award No. CMMI-1248053) was held in July 2016 at the NSF headquarters in Arlington, VA. The Workshop focused on fundamental principles that underlie current and anticipated developments in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, with an emphasis on how the geotechnical research community can contribute to the real-world challenges facing humanity today. Forty researchers attended the Workshop, representing a range of technical backgrounds, diversity, and career stages. Participants from overseas were able to provide an international perspective.
