Intermittent Discharge of Spent Sulfite Liquor
Intermittent discharge of spent sulfite liquors into the Columbia River (Washington and Oregon) is proposed as a method of controlling slime growths. Laboratory studies showed that slime growths in a receiving stream could be controlled if the wastes were discharged intermittently into a river having sufficient volume and high velocity.
