A Method for Measuring Average Strain of Cracked Ferrocement Plates
To measure the average stain of cracked ferrocement plates under bending successfully, thin and flexible copper foils were bonded to the plate surface before the strain gauges. A complete load-strain curve of ferrocement under bending was obtained by using this measuring method. Through conversion, the crack width was approximately estimated by reflecting the bending strain. The initial crack width, the ultimate crack width and the load-crack width curves could be acquired. Both the load-displacement curve and the load-strain curve show that ferrocement plate had good performance in energy absorption and flexural strength.
