Engineering Education and the Construction Industry: What the Industry Should Have From the Colleges
This paper attempts to face up squarely to the joint problems confronting civil engineering education and the construction industry. Construction should not be considered as a business but as a definite career corner of the civil engineering profession. A civil engineer must therefore make the most use of his knowledge acquired in college in order to do the work of engineering and management. The civil engineering profession has much to gain by strengthening its ties with construction and it should be done by construction sponsored research in the colleges, as well as bolstering of the college curriculum.
