Effect of Pile Diameter on the Seismic Performance of Pile Foundation
Advancements in high-speed computing and developments in material modeling techniques are increasingly allowing for large-scale three-dimensional (3D) geotechnical finite-element (FE) simulations. With the aid of the open-source computational platform OpenSees and the graphical user interface OpenSeesPL, 3D computations for seismic ground-foundation analyses are greatly facilitated. In present paper, an effort is made to capture key features associated with seismic response of soil-pile system in time domain. To this end, a parametric study is performed to evaluate the effects of pile configurations on the dynamic performance of foundation system. Response under linear soil behavior representations is mainly discussed.
