Research on the High Performance Concrete Used for Pile Foundation in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Permafrost Region
There are many problems to be faced for pile foundations in the cold regions on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, such as the tension force on the pile induced by the frost heaving surrounding soil, the negative frictional effect induced by foundation thawing, and the long refreezing period of the surrounding soil after the pile is cast even for a long time. In according with the severe characteristic of perennially frozen soil zone in Qinghai province, China, the durability of High Performance Concrete adapting that area was designed, and the preparation parameters of concrete was studied, as well as the mechanical properties and durability of High Performance Concrete in Qinghai-Tibet plateau permafrost region (HPC-QT) was investigated. By the study of various aspects of HPC-QT in Qinghai-Tibet Railway pail foundation, lots of experiences have been gained about concrete construction technology specifically used in permafrost region. It appears that the concrete technology is experiencing a significant advancement. The use of HPC-QT will increase in bitterly cold climate and high salt regions all over the world.
