Study on the Fissures Evolution of Expansive Soil under Different Initial Water Content
One of the objectives of this paper was to study the rules of expansive soil fissures evolution. A laboratory experimental device was designed, and a series of unsaturated expansive soil fissures evolution tests was finished under different initial water content. In order to record the development of fissures, the specimen was photographed regularly during the drying process, and the weight of specimen was measured at the same time to get the water content. The secondary development of software of MATLAB was used to dispose a set of recognition and quantitative analysis of the expansive soil fissures. The relationship of the expansive soil fissure ratio and water content is measured through the way of two-value pixels. A drug response logarithmic model was used to quantitatively fit the time interval rules for the evolution of expansive soil fissures. The results show that the parameters of fissure characteristics were linearly correlated with the initial water content, which would increase with the increasing water content. The proposed method offered a reliable basis for the quantitative analysis and recognition of fissures, and the result can provide certain significant guidance for the construction of expansive soil and the follow-up study.
