Management-Labor Relations in Construction
Close relationships between management and labor are esssential in the construction industry because great reliance must of necessity be placed on the individual craftsmen and supervisors for sound, quick decisions under widely varying conditions. Over the past century, partially to offset the power of large employers, labor has organized into unions that are now instruments of great bargaining and political power. Much of this growth and strength came through the encouragement of the “New Deal” government of the last two decades.
