Water Supply in Arctic Areas: Design Features
Long, subzero winters and permanently frozen ground impose many restrictions on the design of water systems in the Arctic. The cost of construction is several times greater in the Arctic than it is in moderate climates, and operating conditions are more complicated. The results of a failure to recognize these factors are described herein, anct design features are suggested for determining the source, treatment, distribution, and storage of a water supply.
