Determination of Efficient Open Channel Section
Hydraulic design engineers can use this paper to determine the most hydraulically efficient trapezoidal open channel section. A nomogram and a set of curves, developed from the Manning formula, are provided to facilitate the determination of channel dimensions. By consulting the nomogram and the curves, the designer can determine channel dimensions which are not established by other technical considerations.
