Crossing Hangzhou Bay
Severe weather, treacherous tides, and buried pockets of natural gas were just a few of the obstacles that had to be overcome in designing and erecting a bridge across China’s Hangzhou Bay. Using state-of-the-art construction techniques and a large number of prefabricated components, the project team achieved what had once seemed impossible: a 36 km long structure that ranks as the world’s longest sea crossing.
