Mechanical Properties and Finite Element Analysis of Corrugated Steel Pipe Culverts
In this paper, we selected section “A” and “B” of corrugated steel culvert for field testing and numerical simulation based on the reconstruction and expansion project of Yan’an. The results show that in the process of soil filling, the shear strain of corrugated steel pipe culverts fluctuates with the change of the height of the pipe side and the overlying soil. The maximum tangential strain in the internal measurement is 503 με and the maximum tangential strain at the external measuring point is 680 με. The field measured results are in good agreement with the finite element results. The vertical earth pressure at the top of the pipe culvert is the largest, so the earth pressure on the top of the pipe should be taken as an important reference in the design and calculations of culvert planning.
