PENGARUH KONSENTRASI SILIKON OKSIDA (SiO2) DALAM AIR TERHADAP EFEKTIVITAS GENERATOR AIR COOLER PADA SISTEM PLTA
Generator Air Cooler is a main component in system of PLTA with the water is used as working fluid forcooling the hot air. Cooling water containt of sediment or soluted particle risk to influence heat transfer. The mainpurpose of this research is to determine the influence of soluted particle (SiO2) in water on the effectiveness of generatorair cooler in system of PLTA. The research on the effectiveness of generator air cooler (GAC) with 5 varies ofconcentration SiO2 in water and 5 varies of volume rate for each concentration is held in Laboratorium of Power PlantSystem II of Machine Department of State Polytechnic of Ujung Pandang. The temperature of air to GAC is keptconstant with the value of 950C. Then recording the temperature of water in and out GAC, the temperature of air in andout GAC. As a result, it was founded that the maximum value of effectiveness was 6% at concentration SiO2 of 4% andat the lowest volume flow rate of 0,54 l/min, then the value of effectiveness decreases along the increasing value ofvolume flow rate and concentration SiO2.
