The research of this thesis contains analysis of principles and methods for contemporary and sustainable regeneration of objects and areas of industrial heritage. The thesis raises questions of how the preservation of manufacturing based on the principles of circular economy can have a positive impact on sustainable urban development. The aim of the research is to discuss the alternatives and principles of sustainable regeneration of industrial heritage; to determine preconditions and principles of reintegration of manufacturing into regenerated areas of industrial heritage; to find out the guidelines for coexistence of sustainable production and other functions in the city. The thesis consists of three parts: The first part discusses the sustainable regeneration of industrial heritage sites in the context of the principles of the circular economy. The second part investigates the reintegration of sustainable production in the contemporary city based on the principles of circular economy. The third part analyzes the regeneration potential of Vilnius' industrial heritage in the context of circular economy principles
