SMART-RAD: An Innovative Ground Penetrating Radar for Buried Objects Detection and Recognition
The SMART-RAD project is an EC funded RTD project aiming to the development of an evolutionary Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) system, specifically designed for the identification and recognition of buried objects in a fast, accurate and user-friendly way. The innovative features of the SMART-RAD system will allow to overcome the principal limitations of currently marketed system, that still limit the diffusion of the GPR techniques for subsurface monitoring within the construction industry. Thanks to improved measurement performance, fast and reliable survey techniques and innovative real-time data interpretation capabilities, the SMART-RAD system will finally bring the GPR instrument to become the standard tool for non-invasive ground monitoring in all the fields related to the construction and excavation industry.
