RISK FACTOR OF PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS OCCURENCE IN COASTAL AREA CUMMUNITIES KENDARI CITY
Background: The incidence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in coastal areas of Kendari City in the working area of Nambo, Abeli and Mata Public Health Centers continues to increase to 82 cases until 2016-2017. Research Purpose: This study was aimed to examine the influence of Knowledge, Living Environment, Body Mass Index, and Smoking Behaviour with Tuberculosis incidence in coastal area of Kendari city. Research Method: This study was using observational and case control methods with retrospective approach with amount of the samples were 140 respondents. The population in this study were all patients who have been diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis in the contingent of public health office of Kendari City which are Public Health Center of Nambo, Public Health Center of Abeli and Public Health Center of Mata in 2016-2017. Population of control were all people who were not suffering from Pulmonary TB and living in coastal area of Kendari City. Data analysis was using univariate and bivariate analysis with OR data interpretation. Research Result: The result of this research showed that knowledge (p-value = 0,000 <α, OR = 13.50, 95%, Cl = 5.40-33,72), Living environment (p-value = 0,029 <α, OR = 4,62; 95%, Cl = 1,24-17,17), and body mass index (pvalue = 0,000 <α, OR = 6, 36, 95%, Cl = 2,55-15,88) has influence on the incidence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and Smoking behaviour has no influence on the incidence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis (p-value = 0,236 <α, OR = 1,58; 95%, Cl = 0.81-3.09). Conclusion: The Conclusions from this research that knowledge, home environment, and body mass index has influence of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and smoking behaviour is not a factor influence the incidence of Pulmonary TB in Coastal Communities Kendari City
