This study aims to determine the effect of learning problem based learning assisted by the simulation software EKTS electrical control techniques on critical thinking ability of students majoring in electrical engineering education. The research method used was quasi-experimental research design used posttest only control group design. Sampling in the form of random sampling technique obtained a sample of 38 students. Data analysis techniques using the normality test with Kolmogorov-Sminov, homogeneity test with levene's, and independent sample t test. The results showed that Problem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by EKTS electrical control engineering simulation software affected the critical thinking ability of electrical engineering education students. Hypothesis testing found that the results of critical thinking ability, obtained tcount of 3.823 while the ttable value of 2.024 of the degree of freedom (df) = n1 + n2 = 38. So based on tcount > ttable is 3.823 > 2.024 which is the significance value of the t test of 0.012 < 0.05, then H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. So concluded that there is an effect of learning problem based learning assisted by simulation software EKTS electrical control techniques to the critical thinking ability of students in electrical engineering education department.
