Målet med undersökningen är att utreda hur sju definierade stadskvaliteter ser ut i två bostadsområden i Uppsala och att undersöka om dessa kvaliteter på ett enkelt sätt kan mätas. Vidare diskuteras dess inverkan och framtida betydelse för de två områdena, och en generell diskussion om hur de sju stadskvaliteterna kan behandlas i stadsbyggnadssammanhang förs. I en rapport gjord i Stockholm visar resultaten att sju stadskvaliteter tydligare korrelerar med betalningsviljan för bostadsrätter än andra stadskvaliteter. Baserat på dessa sju attraktiva stadskvaliteter för boende undersöktes kvaliteternas förekomst genom platsbesök och analys av stadsdelarna Gottsunda och Kungsängen. Resultaten visar att Kungsängens centrala läge i Uppsala gör att tillgången till de sju stadskvaliteterna är högre än i Gottsunda. Gottsunda saknade de flesta av de sju kvaliteterna. Undersökningen visar att den använda metoden är relativt enkel men inte helt precis. De sju stads-kvaliteterna är ett av många sätt att se på stadsbyggandet som troligen kan ge en ny vinkel i synen på stadsnära bostadsbebyggelse, främst ur de boendes synvinkel och de bör inte ses som ett facit som dikterar hur byggande ska ske. ; The intention of this paper is to investigate what seven predefined urban qualities look like in two neighbourhoods in the city of Uppsala. The aim is to investigate whether these qualities easily can be measured. Moreover their impact on, and future meaning for, the two neighbourhoods is discussed. Also, a general discus-sion is held on how the seven urban qualities can be used in urban planning. A study where urban qualities are tested completed in Stockholm reveals that seven urban qualities better correlate with apartment prises than other urban qualities; this makes them more attractive for housing. With these seven urban qualities as a platform, the occurrence of the qualities where measured through investigation on site and analysis of the neighbourhoods Gottsunda and Kungsängen. The re-sult showed that it’s the central location of Kungsängen in Uppsala that makes the seven urban qualities more frequently occurring compared with Gottsunda. Gottsunda lacked most of the seven urban qualities. This paper indicates that the method used to investigate the neighbourhoods where relatively easy to use but the result had a certain degree of imperfection. Furthermore is it illustrated that the original study of the seven urban qualities, is just one of many ways to look at urban development, and this is mainly from the resident’s point of view. The study should not be seen as a complete recipe that dictates development of city neighbourhoods, but it could probably bring a new helpful perspective to urban development.
