Abstract

The object of this project is a site containing visual information materials on the theme “Lithuanian castles”. The goal of the project – build a site dedicated to castles in Lithuania. Main tasks of the project: to study the history of castles in Lithuania, select castles in Lithuania to create a site, analyze sites, find materials related to castles in Lithuania, determine the style of a site, make a site layout, and popularize the site on the Internet. As part of the project, a website was developed that shows the history of castles: how the appearance of the castle and its purpose changed over the century, from it’s creation to the present day. The site consists in five sections: Trakai Castle; Kaunas Castle; Medininkai Castle, Gediminas' Tower, Map. Animated illustrations have been created for each castle and their historical periods, where the visitors can get familiarized with their history. Within the framework of the work, the following was done: a study of changes in the appearance and purpose of each castle from the century of its formation to the present day; structuring information within the site; creation of illustrations for each of the main historical periods. The information was collected from various sources: websites, forums, communities, historical photographs, postcards, books. The created site is a tool to: attract tourists, simplify the exchange of information, enrich new knowledge. It can be used as a separate independent information source and as an additional resource for Lithuanian museums.
