The purpose of this thesis is to compare tensile and shear resistances of COPRA anchoring coupler developed and manufactured by Peikko Oy according to the construction codes that govern Finland and Chile, and codes used by Peikko Oy to verify the resistances of COPRA anchoring coupler. Peikko Oy supplies a large selection of concrete connections and composite beams for both precast and cast-in-situ solutions in a wide variety of applications. The analysis is performed in the context of the use of COPRA anchoring coupler in construction in Chile to compare the result of resistances with the values determined according to regulations in Finland. The Chilean regulation, similarily to other countries in Latin America, is based on the American ACI standard code. The Chilean regulations incorporate additional decrees adapted to the geographical characteristics of natural actions that occur in Chile, for example the high intensity earthquakes. This thesis consists of verifying the strength capacity in the upper bolt of a beam-column connection. This verification is performed first in accordance with the regulation establishedin Finland, after which it is verified with the regulations established in Chile. Peikko Oy offers three resistance values for the product, which are tension resistance, shear resistance in erection stage and shear resistance in the final stage. These three values will be verified according to each code. Finally, with the results from the above verification, a comparison will be made between the codes and the resistance values offered by Peikko in its technical manual for clients. After this analysis, it is possible to have a percentage comparison of resistances and discover whether COPRA can offer in the Chilean market the same resistance characteristics that are offered in Finland, and what factors must be taken into consideration to implement this application in Chile or other countries that are governed by the ACI standard.
