Complex analysis of the influence of glazing on energy demand of public buildings ; Įstiklinimo įtakos viešųjų pastatų energijos poreikiams kompleksinė analizė
Applying building energy simulations, the dissertation investigates the issu-es of energy efficiency of public buildings. The main object of research – influence of the glazing of the public building on its energy demand. Next to its main function to ensure daylighting, glazing must to be energy efficient. So these requirements conflict. The aim of this dissertation is to perform the complex analysis of the influence of glazing characteristics on the building‘s microclimate and lighting systems energy demand, taking into account DL demand. Also define, what glazing characteristics in Lithuanian and similar climate countries, are able to decrease buildings energy demand to the level of the low energy building. The paper approaches two major tasks. Task 1 is performance of the detailed analysis of influence of glazing on energy demand of the public building. Task 2 is determination of the efficient glazing characteristics of the energy efficient building. The dissertation consists of Introduction, 4 chapters, Conclusions, references and list of published works of the author on the topic of dissertation. The introduction reveals the investigated problem, importance of the thesis and the object of research and describes the purpose and tasks of the paper, research methodology, scientific novelty, the practical significance of results examined in the paper and defended statements. The introduction ends in presenting the author’s publications on the subject of the defended dissertation, offering the material of made presentations in conferences and defining the structure of the dissertation. Chapter 1 revises literature related to the glazing of the facade and its influence both on building‘s energy performance and comfort. Review of the researches, related to the topic of dissertation enables to identify the gap in the analysed field of research and reconsider the tasks of the work. Chapter 2 analyses building energy simulation methods and programs, pursuing to choose the most relevant ones. Selected program is tested empirically. Chapter 3 describes the creation of the building‘s model and chaper 4 analyses results of the simulations. These results enable to define efficient characteritics of the glazing of the public buildings in the point of view of energy and daylighting. Algorithm for the selection of glazing for the low energy public building is created.
