Concrete creep under variable loadings
Variable loads are generally of short-term character. However, some of them are characterised by more pronounced duration and intensity and, as a consequence, produce additional creep effects. Their contribution to the long-term behavior of concrete structures is usually considered through the so-called quasi-permanent value. However, since the creep effects are influenced by the cracking state, it turns out that they have a close interaction with the real elements’ loading history. In the presented work, the long-term behavior of concrete and RC elements was studied under time-varying loading histories consisted of permanent and variable repeated load. The experimental program was designed to check which parameters of the loading history are decisive for the final stress and deformation state of the elements. The level of permanent in terms of cracking load as well as the intensity, the time participation and the sequence of variable load, were the investigated test variables.
