Natūralus apšvietimas architektūroje: Vilniaus autobusų stoties konversija ; Natural light in Architecture: Conversion of Vilnius Bus Station
The object of the final master's thesis is the use of natural lighting to improve the architectural expression of buildings. The aim of the final work is to examine various theoretical and practical materials related to natural lighting and methodically apply the collected material in the building design. Daylight unconditionally interacts with all the senses of our body and mind. Although technological advances have led to energy-intensive lighting solutions often being used in the design of buildings, architects still use daylight as a key element in their architectural concepts in order to achieve a more harmonious relationship with nature. Natural light is revealed both as art and as science. It is a powerful aesthetic and functional element that determines the perception of space and creates visual comfort. These aspects are inextricably important to the visitors of the building, especially if the building serves as a place of learning and education for which this comfort is essential. In terms of Lithuania, the description of a “non-aesthetic building” often does not bypass such public buildings as libraries, so this work aim is to create a vision of a modern building, using innovative methods of light as a primary design element.
