Utgångspunkten för detta arbete är landsbygdens förutsättningar och hur planeringen på landsbygden ser ut. Eftersom landsbygden idag på många ställen avfolkas undersöks möjligheter och exempel för att visa hur en utveckling av landsbygden kan ske. Arbetet syftar till att undersöka vad som representerar ett attraktivt boende för olika människor samt diskutera möjligheten att planera för att uppnå attraktiva boendemiljöer utifrån dessa kriterier. Den inledande teoretiska delen visar en kort historisk tillbakablick av landsbygdens utveckling samt tar upp dess förutsättningar idag. Begrepp som används i diskussioner om landsbygden nämns och olika strategier beskrivna i arbetet visar landsbygdens planeringsförutsättningar. I enkätundersökningen som utförts inom arbetet, och redovisas i del 2, framkommer att lugn och ro, tillsammans med tillgången till kommunikationer och utsikt över ett naturskönt landskap är viktiga kriterier för respondenterna i undersökningsorten. Dessa kriterier appliceras i ett lokaliseringsförslag. Överlag liknar boendepreferenserna hos respondenterna i undersökningsorten de hos befolkningen i landet men barnvänlighet, ett lantligt läge samt utsikt över vatten är högre värderat i undersökningsorten än i landet som helhet, mindre betydelse har shoppingmöjligheter och tillgång till högre utbildning. Tidigare forskning har visat naturens betydelse för människans återhämtning och det ligger nära till hands att tro att de högt värderade attributen natursköna landskap och lugn och ro värderas så högt just för att de gör människan så gott. ; The starting point for this work is rural conditions and existing forms of planning in the countryside. Today the countryside is depopulating and this work examines opportunities and examples of how rural development can take place. The aim with this paper is to investigate what attractive housing means to different groups of people and further discuss the possibility of planning as a method to achieve attractive living environments based on the found criteria. The initial part is theoretical and shows a brief historical review of rural development and its conditions today. Terms used in discussions of rural areas are mentioned and different strategies show the conditions of the contemporary rural planning. The survey carried out within the work, and discussed in the second part of this thesis, shows that peace and quiet, access to communications and overlooking a scenic landscape are important criteria for the respondents. These criteria are applied in a proposal. Generally, the housing preferences of the respondents in the survey are similar to the housing preferences of the population in the country. Even though some differences have been found; child-friendliness, a countryside location and water views are higher valued in the location for the survey than in the country, less important are shopping and access to higher education. Previous research has shown the importance of nature for human recovery, and that could be one of the reasons why the highly valued attributes found in the survey; scenic landscape and peace and quiet, are that important to people when choosing living environment.
