Factors impacting the management of microservices project
In the last decades, the architecture of software systems has changed significantly due to new demand and large Internet traffic. Microservices are being implemented in many companies and projects as an alternative option to system architecture, with many advantages compared with the monolithic approach. A collection of tiny, independent services that may communicate with one another via APIs makes up an application using the software development approach known as microservices. Project management for microservices is a challenging task that requires careful planning and execution. It involves managing multiple services that are loosely connected and can be deployed independently. Effective communication and collaboration among team members is also critical to the success of the project. This study is conducted using mainly qualitative methodologies, including semi-structured interviews, observation, and case studies. The interviewees were selected from experts in the software development field with a variety of experiences with microservices. All data were collected during the research period February-May 2023. The findings and discussion are analysed based on the defined research objectives and questions. A summary of factors that have a great impact on the microservices implementation includes team structure, technology knowledge, project vision and resources. All of these factors are essential for the success of the microservices project. The project manager needs to optimize the management style to balance these elements.
