Shum Wan Road Landslide
One element of the CIVCAL project Web-based resources containing images, tables, texts and associated data of Shum Wan Road Landslide. The Shum Wan Road Landslide in Aberdeen is the largest landslide to have occurred in Hong Kong since 1976. It involved two distinct slides that occurred almost simultaneously. A minor failure of the fill embankment occurred below a passing bay on Nam Long Shan Road which triggered a major landslide at a hillside between Shum Wan Road and Nam Long Shan Road. In this study various aspects of the landslide and subsequent slope rehabilitation works are presented. ; Civil Engineering, construction, geotechnical, building site ; 1. Teachers can draw examples and illustrative material for lectures and demonstration. 2. Students can use the web-site for research and project work. ; All required plug-in downloadable from the site ; Designed for undergradute Civil and Building Engineering students. ; To enhance the learning and teaching of Civil and Building Engineering through ready access to virtual experiences on a variety of construction sites. ; 1. To enable virtual site visits. 2. To provide multi-media enhancement of teaching and learning material. 3. To provide supplementary material for courses in Civil and Building Engineering. 4. To provide resource material for students conducting independent studies. ; published_or_final_version ; http://civcal.media.hku.hk/landslide/default.htm
