The Prose of Antanas Ramonas and Valdas Papievis: Urban Poetics Bachelor's work examines the concept of urban poetics within Antanas Ramonas and Valdas Papievis prose. City as a result of human creation is artistic. Therefore, analizing the city is equivalent to the work of art interpretation. This work aims to define urban poetic expression in A. Ramonas and V. Papievis works. The paper examines the expression of the city which is divided into empirical exploration (historical) and the feel of the city (symbolical). Empirical exploration is outside of the city: highlighting the starting point of the city, which is depicted as a station, an airport or city gate, discussing the history of the city and urban legends creation, captivating architecture and sculptures to mention that it is not only a reminder of past events, people, adorn, but evidence of relevant historical, cultural aspects of the city. Characters by Antanas Ramonas and Valdas Papievis reflect your relationship with the city and its history. Particular attention is given to the theme of transience. In Valdas Papievis works urban elements (bridges, street layout, etc.) become symbols, which indicates a characters internal state of mind. Both authors works describe city as a creative space, through aesthetic, historic, value-based, cultural and symbolic aspects. Every resident of the city contribute to the image of the city development through their daily activities. Characters by Valdas Papievis imagine cities as works of art, here they create their own lives and cities.
