Integration of Building Information Modeling with Augmented Reality for Site Supervision
Like all large industries around the world which have undergone many changes, the construction industry has experienced a lot of changes in its history as well. All changes that have happened in the industries are in pursuit of achieving effective development. In the construction industry, for elevating construction management, AR and BIM technologies have been devised. This thesis aims at scrutinizing the construction management proceedings in order to resolve the management concerns with the uses of these modern technologies and the main point of interest is on Site Supervision. It comes to light that BIM technology coupled with AR application bring about astonishing progression and amendments in the field of the construction industry. Additionally, the present study highlights the significance of the integration of AR to BIM and reveals its great capacity in advancing the project in a better and more accurate manner regarding the construction assemblies and installations, the examination of processes, the management and maintenance of facilities and the infrastructure. Furthermore, perceptive interaction with the user is assisted by the mentioned integration which leads to an immersion through BIM. It can increase reconditioning at the worksite by decreasing the response time. An efficient visualization program works on the latest information available from the construction site in order to revise the construction planning as early as possible. BIM and AR potency to be utilized unitedly has enhanced because of the technological advancements such as the functional improvement achieved in developing portable computers and devices, along with visualization apparatuses. Tracking techniques that are used in the construction industry have also been developed; for example, the use of visual markers and devices such as position sensors like GPS for obtaining the needed information has assisted construction processes.
