Vertybių ir darnaus vystymosi politikos santykis Europos Sąjungos šalyse ; The relationship between values and sustainable development in the european union countries
The purpose of this paper is to find out if there is some kind of relationship between environment as a value and sustainable development politics in the European Union countries. 2019 was the year when the EU Commission published a new central policy called “The Green Deal”, which aims to make Europe a climate neutral continent by 2050. This ambition to cardinally change the way of living and consumption must appear either from a really critical environmental situation or due to the changes in needs. Since the EU relatively does not face some serious environmental or climate change problems, the answer should be changes in needs or therefore values. Following tasks were formulated in thesis: 1. Evaluate EU citizens values by referring to their preferences or environmentally friendly practices; 2. Evaluate sustainable development politics in each EU member state by creating a fuzzy set ideal type model; 3. Find the tendencies and correlations between the categories of sustainable development governance and environmental values. The paper has found that there is significant positive correlation between sustainable development politics and environmental values: the bigger the proportion of society who has environmental values the more sufficient sustainable development governance is in that country.
