Comparison between the Swedish and South African Building Industry
South Africa has a demand for development and production of new housing but has a hard time to let go of their traditional building techniques and methods. Currently a huge building project, called Wescape is being planned just north of Cape Town. In order to fulfil Wescape requirements of a sustainable society and not to burden the City Council with endless of work, a change in South Africas building regulation, planning processes and building approval processes is necessary. These Master Thesis will exanimate possible amendments for a change to the current system.In order to get a perspective to the South African regulation and processes, a comparison is done to the Swedish similarities. Tables that show the differences have been drawn and amendments to improvements stated. The amendment would hopefully lead to that Wescape, similar projects or other new developments will get more construction alternatives, be projected in a smoother way and faster get the building approval documents. ; Validerat; 20141002 (global_studentproject_submitter)
