Landscape 4.0. Vision towards the future
The text, written with four hands with the other Directors of the International Summer School 2018, is divided into four fundamental areas: The international context in which the event in question takes place; the program, concerning interdisciplinary themes and conferences; the local context, ie the 'fragile' areas selected as case studies; the salient themes of the 9th edition, briefly commented on below. Themes The OC 2018 edition focuses the attention on the multipleand complementary forms of integration between landscape and society. Sharing is proposed as a key word for the transformative processes of contemporary landscapes and territories. Only a careful researchfor identities of places, where loca lcommunities can recognize and rediscovere themselves, allows us to reach a quality that integrates spatiality with the sense of sociality. Along this background, the direction of the worksho pidentifies some paradigmatic place sin the enlarged territory of the city of Piacenza, taken as an exemplary case-studies o fcontemporary conditions. Deeply, the landscapes that are proposed to students as a basis for discussion and comparison and as object of the design experimentation, correspond with some abandoned military areas of the city that build an interacting and multi-scale sequence along the axis of Via Emilia Pavese. They are intended as huge potential in terms of regeneration, reuse and recovery of urban quality.
