CFD analysis of velocity distribution and pressure drop in laminar pipe flow
This study uses Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations in ANSYS Fluent to analyze the behaviour of pressure drop and velocity distribution in laminar pipe flow. To validate simulation results with theoretical predictions like the Hagen-Poiseuille equation and to offer information for pipeline system optimization, the research attempts to model flow patterns across a range of pipe shapes and Reynolds numbers. Simulations provide high-resolution data and validate ideas of classical fluid mechanics by displaying the linear pressure gradients and parabolic velocity profiles typical of laminar flow. Enhancing fluid transport systems and energy efficiency are examples of practical consequences. The assumptions of Newtonian fluid flow and steady-state behavior are among the limitations, indicating areas that require more research.
