Big data and municipal waste management: challenges and opportunities
Industry 4.0 characterized by the convergence of digital, physical, and biological technologies in ways that are changing both the world around us and our very idea of what it means to be human. Climate change and digital development are topical issues on today's political agendas in the EU and worldwide. Municipal waste management is one key element of climate change issues, and Bid Data- element of digital development. Topic reveal possible interaction between municipal waste management and Big Data. This interaction presupposes to discuss such subject as new EU law regulation (Directive on waste or General Data Protection Regulation), specific law provision of the municipal waste management in EU member state level (For example- Lithuanian), political-strategic documents (environmental protection, zero waste, circular economy), and technological- infrastructure aspects. Based on the obtained data, were identified the specifics and trends of the interaction phenomenon.
