Environmental Issues of Construction and Demolition Waste
The civil construction sector handles generating an expressive volume of waste. This generation, besides causing negative consequences to the environment, also supplies financial production. This thesis in considering the method of cleaner production as a solution for the excessive generation of construction and demolition waste (CDW), aims to emphasize aspects that must be seen for the implementation of the same method in civil construction. In this way, it presents a brief study on construction and demolition waste, consisting of its causes of generation, composition, generation data, legislations, classification, and flow that addresses from generation to the destination. Analyzing the generation of waste in a work of requalification allows the observation of the effectiveness of measures that look to reduce waste and decide which measure should be kept and which should be improved during the implementation. This thesis draws the conclusion that the implementation of clean measures supplies economic and environmental benefits to the work, but barriers hinder the singularity of the projects, and in this way are guidelines that decide working practices to help and encourage implementation.
