Aerial view of Rexford, NY showing location of amusement park
Black-and-white aerial photograph of Rexford, NY along the Mohawk River. Superimposed on the photograph are drawings of the structures of the Rexford Park amusement park (also called, at times, Luna Park and Dolle's Park) showing their original locations. The photograph is printed on the front cover of the book 'The Amusement Park at Rexford' by George A. Farrell. Farrell states that the photograph was 'taken over the former park area by John Papp [.] Overlaid upon this image are individual pen and ink drawings of park facilities roughly positioned as they were in the heyday of the park. These small images are works of art all by themselves and were drawn by Gordon Turner several years ago while he was employed at GE as a technical draftsman. The interesting part of these drawings is that they were all rendered in proper perspective for the particular aerial photographic view used as background. The images were drawn from Francis Spoonogle's collection of photos, each of which was generally taken from a very different ground-level perspective' (p. xiii-xiv).
