My aim is to analyze the principles of the megastructure phenomenon, to review its history, ideas, pros, cons. By studying the conceptual and realized examples of architectural megastructures I examine the possibilities and challenges of their creation. While examining the priority problems of Lithuania, I seek to analyze the benefits and feasibility of the megastructure in Lithuania. Thus, currently the megastructure would be relevant for the development of Vilnius and Kaunas twin city, by evolving the infrastructural network. I seek to design a new international Lithuanian airport, which would fulfill the function of Vilnius and Kaunas multimodal transport hub. As flight demand rises, new infrastructure becomes necessary. This system would use multiple modes of transportation (air, rail, road) making travel and cargo shipping more convenient. I aim to create the urban and infrastructural concept and design one passenger terminal, regarding the features relevant to the megastructure.
